This week we have a long video showing you exactly how we bottom bounce while drifting and trolling to catch a ton of smallmouth bass!
We bait up our silver and gold viper spoons with live and artificial minnows and troll them just above the bottom using bottom bouncers and 3-way T-Turn swivels.
We’re able to land a lot of small mouth bass, while keeping our lines tangle-free thanks to the T-Turn 3-way swivels!
As always, good fishin’!
Ivo

Ivo,
Great action. I really enjoy the fight of a small mouth.
They are sure strong for their size. When you caught the
Jumbo Perch, it was probably in a school and you just happen
to go through them and picked up the one, wouldn’t you think?
The water sure looked good.
Thanks for doing the video.
Grant
Hi Grant,
Glad you enjoyed the video. The Jumbo perch do school up and the schools move around with the bait fish. As for the small mouth, they are a fantastic fish to catch and a lot of fun!
Thanks for writing in and until next time, good luck and good fishing!
Ivo, i really enjoyed the small mouth trolling with the viper spoon. I caught some very nice size walleyes in lake st.Clair with the same trolling tech. using the the viper spoon and three way swivel. I was impressed with and so wondering, what brand of coveralls were you all three wearing, that looked warm and easy to see in red and black? Thanks for the videos and lure tips. Mark
Hi Mark,
Nice to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the video. Great to hear you are using this technique for walleye in Lake St. Clair, and that you are catching fish
As for the coveralls, they were actually survival suits (floater suits). They are very warm, keep you dry and safe, should you happen to fall in the water. If you ever do any fishing in cold water conditions, I would highly recommend wearing a survival suit.
Thanks again for writing in and for tuning in - hope you have a great year on the water!
Ivo
Hi Ivo, i was wondering what size of viper spoon and the size of the three way swivel you were using for your small mouth trolling set up? I Will be ordering alot of the swivels as they ARE the BEST that i have ever used. I have NEVER had them get twisted, which is great. thanks again,Mark
Hi Mark,
We like to run the SP1 Viper Spoon for small mouth bass, when using minnows as it will accommodate a minnow perfectly (or a 3″ leech). As for the T-Turns, we use the small T-Turn for any light line applications - so if we are using up to 10 lb mono or fluorocarbon, we’ll use the small size T-Turn. When using up to 20 lb. mono or fluorocarbon, then we jump to the medium size T-Turn.
Glad to hear you like using the T-Turns Mark - they really are a pleasure to use
Until next time, good luck and good fishing!
Ivo
