Viewer Question: “[What is the] easiest hand held GPS unit to buy? [One that] does not need bells and whistles - Gary S”
Dear Gary S.,
If you’re looking for a basic, hand held GPS unit, I would suggest going to the Garmin eTrex, and here’s a picture of it:

If you are in Canada,
Canadian Tire carries them - should you be in the USA,
Bass Pro Shops carries them as well. The prices vary, but you should be able to pick one up at around $100 (or less on sale)This unit is not expensive & will do you well. I also use a Garmin
GPS and have for a few years now. I had some bad luck with some other manufacturer’s products, but the Garmin has been a very reliable unit for me & I have had no troubles at all. (I use the
Garmin GPS 72)The eTrex will fit in the palm of your hand. It has a great ability to lock onto satellites quickly. It can store up to 500 way points, is water proof & is very easy to use. It even comes in a bright yellow color, so it’s hard to loose. Also, depending on use, it can run up to 17 hours on 2 AA batteries - thats’ a nice bonus!
Hope this helps - good Luck Gary & Good Fishin!
Ivo
