4 Quick Tips on Using a Bait Casting Reel
As promised, I would like to give you some pointers & tips as they relate to bait casting reels. These reels are more complex than spinning reels & take some practice to master. These few tips I share below, I hope will be of tremendous help to you.
The first thing you will need to do is spool up your reel. When doing so, you must ensure the line is spooling off your dispenser & spooling on to your reel, in the same direction. This is very important - If not, you will have major line twist.
The next thing to consider is line strength. I wrote earlier that the heavier the line diameter, the easier it will be to cast & control. So if this is your first time with a bait caster, don’t be shy – spool up with 30 or 50 lb. monofilament line. Practice with this & then down-size to 20 lb. test line.
