Video - How to Avoid and Prevent Line Twist on Spinning Reels
Hello folks, since our last video on how to clean a pike we have received so much positive feedback and as such, we put together another short video which gives four key tips on how to avoid line twist on spinning reels. Hey Ivo, excellent videos. I hope I can remember all the tips.
I would like to ask you a question. I just purchased an Okuma Al-55 reel
and now I can put quite a bit of line on to fight those big salmon, carp
and who knows maybe a sturgeon. Do you think that this type of reel is
suitable for the type of fishing that I do? And also, If I can put more
line on the reel to use to tire out the fish, is it safe to assume that I
can use a lighter line such as 15-20 lb. mono as apposed to 30 lb. braided?

I’m looking to get another rod. I’m a dork and I like the Spinning reels with the trigger. I’m just more comfortable with it. Any suggestions on a mid to higher end model for me?

A decent, mid range spinning reel with a trigger is the Shimano Solstace Spinning Reel.
If you like using the trigger style reel, this one will do you well. It conveniently centers the trigger for easy casting.
