Birth Of A Soon-To-Be ‘New Classic’

“Let’s go walleye fishing tomorrow afternoon & fish til dark!” said my brother Ivo. That was our first walleye fishing trip planned on Lake Erie in Ivo’s new boat. He and I were all pumped, getting ready the night before – rigging our fishing rods with worm harnesses and crank baits and getting ready our huge tackle boxes full of lures.

We asked our older brother Claudio (who’s a bit of a naturalist) to come along with us. He loves to use natural bait when fishing and didn’t even own an artificial lure of any kind. It was for that fishing trip that he went out to buy a lure that would give him some confidence in fishing with.

Well, Claudio still not satisfied, didn’t stop there - he customized it a bit. The next day on the water we seen his creation and I’m sure my brother Ivo was thinking the same thing I was: “Why would he use ‘THAT’ instead of our ‘tried & true’ lures? Or even instead of his normal live bait?” I really felt that Claudio would be watching Ivo & I catch all the fish while he desperately fishes with his new lure. Well, was I ever wrong.

Claudio quickly catches the first fish and greatly out-fishes both Ivo and I combined! We learned that he had something with great potential. The fish were very aggressively attacking his lure. Not only did he catch more fish, but they were generally bigger fish, and of more varieties! Walleye, smallmouth bass, sheepshead, perch, and pike were his catch! What an afternoon he had; he sure had a lot of action!

“Fish on!” however, is not in his vocabulary. Unless you spot him reeling in a fish, or if he asks for the landing net, you would never know that he has a fish on (he would make for a bad TV fishing-show host). Ivo, a very talented fisherman and I were feeling out-fished. As time went on, we had an increasing respect for Claudio’s new fishing lure. That’s when I asked him “Do you have any extra lures for us to use?”

That was the beginning. With this basic lure idea to work with, the three of us contributed ideas to modify its design & construction and to add fish-attracting features. Our technical background & fishing experience helped us to create our highly productive, all-fish-catching lure ; the concept is timeless. It’s an exciting lure to fish in both saltwater and freshwater…soon to be available for you & I!
